Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 2

The second part of Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs Of Wasseypur will be out in the theatres early next month, and those who liked the first half are waiting for it. One of the highlights of part one was the earthy and catchy music by Sneha Khanwalkar. The ‘Hunter’ song has become a rage with the youth and ‘Keh ke loonga’ has become common parlance. The album of GOW 2 was recently released and is getting mixed reviews.

Watch ‘Coal bazaari’ from the Nawazuddin Siddiqui -Huma Qureshi starrer and you will understand the mixed reactions. But will everyone understand the lyrics without trouble? It seems that Varun Grover, who has written the songs, has taken creative liberty a little too far with this album. With terms like ‘tunya’, ‘moora’ and ‘taar bijli’, it becomes challenging to grasp the meanings. May be that was the intention, but wethinks it will certainly take time before the music catches on.
